Refrigerated shipping

At Swedish Food Shop - Butik Hemlängtan, we offer shipping for refrigerated items (e.g., herring, caviar, cheese). To ensure quality, we have specific requirements regarding shipping methods and delivery times.

Packaging and Temperature

To minimize temperature rise during transport, all refrigerated items are packed in insulated bags together with frozen gel packs. This method is designed to keep the goods chilled for up to 48 hours.

Recommendation: We strongly recommend that refrigerated items are only ordered for delivery to countries within the EU.

For deliveries outside the EU, there is a significant risk that the transport time will exceed 48 hours due to customs processing and longer distances, meaning the cooling effect will expire before the package arrives.

Ordering Requirements

  • Shipping Method: When purchasing refrigerated items, UPS Express must be selected at checkout.
  • Dispatch Days: Refrigerated items are dispatched on Mondays and Tuesdays only.
    Orders placed Wednesday–Sunday will be shipped the following Monday to prevent the package from sitting at a terminal over the weekend.

Liability and Disclaimer

By ordering refrigerated items, the customer agrees to the following terms:

  • We are responsible for packing the goods correctly with insulation and frozen gel packs upon dispatch.
  • The customer is responsible for checking the condition and temperature of the goods upon delivery.
  • No compensation will be provided for goods spoiled due to transport delays, customs processing, or if the recipient was not available at the time of the delivery attempt.
  • The customer is responsible for checking import regulations for food items in the destination country.

Mixed Orders

It is possible to order both refrigerated items and dry goods in the same order. The entire order will then be handled according to the refrigerated shipping procedures.
