Jörgen Beckman goes out on an evening stroll with the dog and gets brutally stabbed. Gunvald Larsson arrives at the crime scene and notes that Beckman not only was deprived of life but also got the skin stripped from his face. The shocked wife describes their marriage as happy, but mentions that a foreigner knocked on their door the day before the murder. At the same time, the victim's electronic diary reveals a connection with a Swedish woman married to a Pakistani. Honor killings (karo kari) are included in the document.
